Elric Valhirden: The Godking

Elric was legendary in his time, a warrior who faced the hordes of night during the great war of Draconia. His battle prowess was unmatched, even by vampires and demons. Elric was the son of the late King Tarel Valhirden and had previously served as the Lordknight of the Lightsguard. When Trevalion and his creatures rampaged through the land, Tarel fell in battle while protecting his people, leaving Elric to take up leadership in his stead.

A legend existed among their people about a mysterious gauntlet that had been with them since before the world fell. The elven Saint Delanora had begged the late King Tarel to utilize the artifact, but he refused, claiming it was unnatural and a relic of a bygone age. However, after Tarel’s death, Delanora convinced the younger Elric to take up the artifact. In doing so, he became the new Hand of Light.

Elric led his people to a hard-fought victory, though the cost was immense. Entire human kingdoms were wiped from the face of Draconia in that week-long battle, their corpses strewn across the bloody field outside the shining city. It wasn’t until a lower member of the Lord of Night’s Court, Davidross Velorean, made a pact on the battlefield to stop the madness. Despite their efforts, Trevalion's power was too great.

Yet, as the Firstborne was distracted, Elric made a discovery. The gauntlet, the Hand of Light, burned with the power of the heavens above. When Elric outstretched the device, the clouds parted, and Trevalion was destroyed by the weapon. Elric's deeds cemented his place in legend, even deeper than his days as Lordknight. He went on to sign the Treaty of Dusk with the vampire kingdoms, vowing to come for them if they ever stepped out of line.

However, when Elric returned to Vrodik as a king and hero, a creeping dread and fear took hold—one day, his people might suffer the same fate as his father. To protect them, he kept the gauntlet affixed to his right hand, refusing to remove it just in case. Over time, Elric focused on fortifying his kingdom, turning away from Draconia and the lands of darkness.

With the gauntlet’s strange power, Elric ruled for a thousand years. The device kept him alive,

yet it eventually withered him into an elderly and broken appearance, earning him the title of "The Godking."
