Rasputin, The Master's Companion

Rasputin is a massive creature who calls the inner world of the Manor of Mystery his home. He can often be found swooping around the belltower and scaling the walls. While he appears to be a large vampire bat, his origins are far more complex than one might imagine.

The Brekkin – These massive winged creatures were bred by Mortificus himself. Once peaceful beings of Magick’s End, they were twisted into darkness by the first vampire, who used his void to taint their hearts black. This act drove them into undeath, but even worse, it stripped them of their ability to feel emotions. Originally designed to scour the tall trees and protect the magickal forest by culling invading creatures and pests, they were transformed into killing machines for Mortificus’ great war. They were specifically bred to combat the dwarves' and humans' hippogriffs and griffins.

The war took its toll, and by the end of it, the Brekkin's numbers had dwindled.

Thousands of years later, during the great War of Light and Darkness, Trevalion called upon the last of the Brekkin to return to the battlefield. However, this war inevitably ended in failure, and with it, the last of these large bat-like creatures met their gruesome demise.

Now, the Brekkin are a rarity, hardly seen in the skies of Draconia, just like their fellow winged creatures—Wyverns, Griffins, lesser Dragons, and Hippogriffs.

Rasputin and his master share a history, but that tale will be revealed in due time.
